Prepare the Surface

Clean your basement walls and floors thoroughly to remove dirt, dust, and loose debris. Remove efflorescence (white, chalky residue) using DRYLOK® Etch for a clean, smooth surface. If the walls remain damp, apply DRYLOK® Wet Wall Bonding Primer to improve adhesion and enhance waterproofing performance.

Repair walls and seal openings

Repair missing mortar using Sikaflex®+ Mortar Fix Sealant. Let it cure for 7 days before applying DRYLOK® Original or DRYLOK® Floor & Wall.

Seal gaps around doors and windows using Sikaflex®+ Construction Sealant. Allow it to cure for 7 days before applying DRYLOK® Original or DRYLOK® Floor & Wall.

Seal floor and wall joints

Fix leaks at the floor-wall joint using DRYLOK® Fast Plug for a quick, watertight seal. For larger cracks up to 1.25 inches, use Sikaflex Self-Leveling Sealant. Structural repairs may require Sikacryl PowerSet Instant Concrete Repair or a full slab repair.

Repair Floor Cracks

For cracks smaller than 1 inch wide and ½ inch deep, insert a backer rod and fill with Sikaflex®+ Crack Flex Sealant. Once cured (7 days), apply DRYLOK® Floor & Wall or DRYLOK® E1 Concrete Floor Paint. For expansion joints or wider gaps, use Sikaflex Self-Leveling Sealant for a smooth, durable repair.

Apply Waterproof Coatings

Once all repairs are fully cured (7 days), apply DRYLOK® Original, DRYLOK® Floor & Wall, or DRYLOK® E1 Concrete Floor Paint, depending on your surface type. Use a brush for tight areas and a roller for even coverage, creating a complete, long-lasting waterproof seal.
